Hamada's AP Biology Class Creates Lantern Fly Traps
NHS
Students in Ms. Hamada’s AP Biology class are helping to eliminate the invasive lantern fly population by designing and creating traps to hang on trees around school grounds. The project ties into the class’ Ecology unit.
Each school day for the next couple of weeks, the class will check the traps and remove them from the trees at the end of that period. Lantern flies are an invasive species and are causing issues in Connecticut and surrounding states because they do not have natural predators.
