Prepare for a future in the culinary world.

The Culinary Arts Pathway prepares students for careers in culinary, hospitality, food services, and much more. Ms. Dolan and Mr. White both started their careers in the Food Service industry and have over 40 years of combined teaching experience in the field, bringing real-world expertise and deep professional knowledge to every class.

Introductory courses teach students the basic principles of cookery, including recipe interpretation, measurements, food safety, and basic cooking methods. Students will also learn about proper sanitation, food safety, and nutrition.

Norwalk High's state-of-the-art culinary center is structured to teach culinary arts to students as well as to provide a team building environment. Instructors focus on technique while teaching their students to prepare culinary works of art. Students learn to work together while creating delicious meals.

The hands-on culinary courses at NHS are rewarding and effective in developing organizational skills, sharpening communication skills, and promoting group work. World cuisine courses also expose students to the ways people of different cultures meet their basic nutritional needs and how certain foods become staples in a given country.

Students will also learn all aspects of the food industry while running the Little Bear Café, a student run, faculty and staff supported, restaurant. Catering events within the high school and the community help foster mentorship opportunities to every student.
