We offer a dynamic and comprehensive performing arts experience where students can explore their passions in music and theater. The Performing Arts Pathway provides opportunities in vocal music, band, orchestra, color guard, and theater, helping students grow as confident and skilled performers.

NHS is especially proud of its distinguished music program. Students participate in award-winning vocal ensembles, concert bands, strings orchestra, percussion groups, and an exceptional color guard. Our nationally recognized Marching Bears were the 2025 State and National Champions. The music department has earned numerous accolades in choir, orchestra, and instrumental performance, reflecting the dedication and talent of our student musicians.

NHS also celebrates its strong performing arts traditions. Each year, students participate in Candlelight, a beloved school tradition dating back to the 1930s that brings the community together through music and celebration. This longstanding event highlights the unity, pride, and artistic excellence of Norwalk High School.

The Norwalk Theatre Co. further enriches the performing arts experience with fall plays, spring musicals, student-directed productions, one-act competition pieces, and the popular CaBEARet. Over the past four years, NHS thespians have earned more than a dozen Halo Awards, showcasing the creativity and strength of the theater program. 

Extracurricular opportunities like the Drama Club, chamber ensembles, the Tri-M Music Honor Society, and the Thespian Society give students additional ways to grow as artists in a supportive and inspiring community.
